On 29th April 2016, the new study “Digitalisation in Procurement – Procurement 4.0”, conducted by the Fraunhofer Institut for Material Flow and Logistics (IML) and the Bundesverband Materialwirtschaft, Einkauf und Logistik e.V. (BME), was presented in the House of Logistics and Mobility (HOLM) at Frankfurt Airport. Numerous industry representatives attended the event.
The study revealed that requirements and responsibility of strategic purchasing increase. Without procurement, digital structural change will not be successful. Therefore procurement can take over a leading role. The job profiles of purchasers change as they become internal and external interface managers.
In this framework, project PERFECT was briefly introduced. Information material was distributed and contacts were established for further collaboration and networking.
